The Shin Do Kumaté II bouts were held in the Grand Ballroom of the Westshore Doubletree Hotel in Tampa, Florida on Saturday, February 15, 2003.  All professional bouts were sanctioned and officiated by the Florida State Boxing Commission and aired by Fox Sports Net & Time Warner.

This explosive event featured 5 bouts cumulating in the main event, which pitted the current IKF Southeast Heavyweight and ISKA Georgia Heavyweight Champion, "Lightning" Lane Collyer, against 8th Dan Kong Shin Bup Hapkido and 8th Dan Shin Do Hapkido Disciple, Master Mehrdad Khan Moayedi of St. Petersburg, Florida.

The first bout on the card was between James "Mad Lion" Routson of the Diamond Dutchman Muay Thai School in Orlando, Florida against Matthew Rogers, from Peacock's Academy of Martial Arts in Jacksonville, Florida.  This was Routson's second Shin Do Kumaté bout.  In Shin Do Kumaté I, Routson won against Michael Shoffener by TKO with a brutal knee to Shoffener's head, cracking his forehead and causing a blood bath in the ring.

This evening's fight started quickly with both fighters landing heavy blows, kicks and knee strikes during the first minute.  Rogers showed great power and discipline for his pro debut scoring a knockdown with a hard right hook in the closing seconds of the first round knocking Routson to his knees.

Routson came back strong however and scored a TKO with a knee to the face in the fourth round.  Another vicious knee-blow scores a second bloody Shin Do Kumaté win for "Mad Lion" James Routson.  Excellent bout!

The second bout of the night featured Roy Phillippy of Peacock's Academy of Jacksonville, Florida against Brian Allen from Diamond Dutchman Muay Thai School in Orlando, Florida.  Both fighters weighed in at 190 pounds.  Allen's style was heavy on the leg strikes while Phillippy was more determined to win with knee strikes to the face.  Allen, a night club bouncer by trade, spent much of the fight taunting Phillippy and shaking off his heavy blows.  Phillippy's strategy paid off midway through the second round when one of his knee strikes opened up a large gash on Allen's face, rendering Allen unable to continue the fight and giving Phillippy a bloody TKO in bout two of Shin Do Kumaté II.

The third bout featured Chris Rinoza, also from Peacock's Academy of Jacksonville in his pro debut against Stefan ButinBik, who comes from his own Muay Thai School of America located in Crystal River, Florida.  Rinoza weighed in at 133 lbs, while ButinBik weighed in at 139 lbs.  ButinBik also fought in the first Shin Do Kumaté event, in which he lost by decision to Kirk Bovell from Barbados. (Bovell was also scheduled to fight this evening, but a turn of events caused his bout to cancel without notice).  Rinoza came out aggressively with a flying knee strike that grazed ButinBik, but ButinBik returned his offense with relentless low kicks to Rinoza's thigh.  

ButinBik's thigh kicks took their toll when barely a minute into the second round Rinoza crumpled to the canvas after a particularly vicious kick, ending the fight - making this 3^rd bout the 3^rd TKO in a row for the Shin Do Kumaté II.

The 4^th fight set Travis Crawford of Diamond Dutchman Muay Thai School against Roberto Hannan of Verona, Italy in the Middleweight Division.  Hannan weighed in at 162 lbs, while Crawford came in at 160 lbs.  The first round started out with both fighters going full force right from the start.  Hannan tended to favor powerful flurries of punches while Crawford was taking every opportunity to knee Hannan in the face.  Thirty seconds into the third round, Crawford buckled Hannan with a quick left hook to his midsection.  Crawford took advantage of this and pummeled Hannan until the referee stepped in to stop the fight.  Hanna was not able to continue, giving Crawford the 4^th TKO of the night in the Shin Do Kumaté II.

What an event!!!!  The crowd was roaring with excitement and ready for the Main Event. Master Mehrdad Khan Moayedi weighing in at 203 lbs against Lightning Lane Collyer at 230 lbs. - giving Collyer a 27 pound advantage!  Collyer came to the Shin Do Kumaté holding both the IKF Southeast and ISKA Georgia Heavyweight Titles with a record of 21 wins - with 13 KO's.  For his comeback fight, Master Mehrdad trained exclusively out of his own Shin Do Kumaté School in St. Petersburg, Florida came into this fight with an outstanding record of 35-2 with 30 KO's, but had not fought in over two years.  The tension in the room was thick.  The determination in both fighters was evident and their fierceness did nothing but excite the crowd even more. 

This awesome bout started with Master Mehrdad attacking the inside and outside of Lane Collyer's leading leg. As the round progressed Collyer attacked repeatedly but was repelled by Master Mehrdad's vicious counter attacks with his shin kicks.  Master Mehrdad's strategy in this round appeared to be to pummel Collyer's face while delivering punishing shin kicks to his thighs.  The round ended with Collyer delivering a strong front kick to Master Mehrdad's lower stomach, catching him off-balance and knocking him off his feet after the bell had rung, but the round had clearly gone to Master Mehrdad for the brutal shin kicks to Collyer's thigh. 

Master Mehrdad started the second round aggressively with more powerful shin kicks to Collyer's thighs.  At this point, Collyer started favoring his right leg as his left thigh was becoming swollen and bruised.  Master Mehrdad took advantage of this and rushed Collyer delivering a devastating straight right punch to Collyer's chin knocking him to the canvas.  

Collyer recovered after an eight count and both fighters pounded each other relentlessly.  At the one-minute mark, Collyer delivered a strong knee to

Master Mehrdad's groin and the referee stopped the clock and gave Collyer a warning for the low blow.

Round three started with both fighters eyeing each other cautiously and waiting for opportunities to attack.  Collyer's left leg was obviously injured as he was no longer attempting any strong kicks.  At the one-minute mark Master Mehrdad rocked Collyer with a flurry of powerful punches to the face. 

In the final round both fighters were showing signs of fatigue. Collyer then came on strong at the end landing several strong punches to Master Mehrdad's head during the closing seconds of the bout, with the judges awarding the majority decision to Master Mehrdad.

The entire evening was exhilarating and proved to be a successful event of Professional Martial Arts Full-Contact Fights.  We look forward to the Shin Do Kumaté III, coming July 12, 2003.  The Main Event will feature Master Mehrdad against Pedro "Pit Bull" Fernandez from California.
